The FIVB’s refereeing courses are designed to help
spread the knowledge of the sport across the
world. Courses are held throughout the year and range from refresher courses to International Referee Candidate Courses and Continental events. The aim of each event is to help improve and update referees' knowledge and competence of volleyball and beach volleyball rules according to the most recent trends in the sport. |
One of the most recent trends has been the rise of
female referees, with the FIVB Volleyball World
Grand Prix 2011 final between Brazil and USA in
Macau, China the first time that both referees
were female; Zorica Bjelic of Serbia and Susana
Rodriguez of Spain. This increase in female referees has resulted in the FIVB introducing a women's only International Volleyball Referee Course for 2012. This is set to take place in Turkey, with dates to be confirmed in the near future. |
