Brazil beat Italy 3-2 (25-23, 25-23, 23-25, 26-28, 15-13) - duration 2:06
09-Oct, start time: 18:40, end time: 20:46 - Attendance: 8,800
Pasquale Gravina (Italian Captain): "Good evening, as you can imagine it is very difficult for me to find the right words after a match like that. I am very proud of the guys and of my team, and I hope for the young guys can get in the future the same satisfaction I did, that is all".
Nalbert Bitencourt (Brazil, captain) "It was a tough mathc every one was saying that Italy was in bad situation but Italy is always Italy, they were 3 times world champion. They are always favourites in whatever championship they play. I know that it was the quarterfinal and this could have been the final and I am very happy to be in the semifinals. We will see tomorrow, it will be a difficult match against Yugoslavia. Lets prepare for tomorrow, lets try to win".
Andrea Anastasi (Italy, coach): "I think that there was a very small difference between one team and the other. Brazil played a very good match, I have nothing else to say".
Bernandhino Rezende (Brazil, coach) "It seems that we have just finished a final, because of the tension and volleyball level we saw on court today. To play against Italy is always very important for us. They never give in in a match, it is a quality of great teams, and they are a great team. I am sad because two great teams had to cross at this stage, it would have been better to face Italy further on. Andrea is one of the coaches that supported me the most when I took over the Brazilian team and I perfectly know how he is feeling at the moment".
