Following their third place at the Asian U19 Boy's Championship in India, behind China and Korea they have shown remarkable improvement over the years as their internal training programs start to pay dividends.

The Thailand Volleyball Association has been administering the sport from the earliest days of play to the present in order to raise the standard of play to a level comparable with that of the developed countries.

The Olympics in 2008 is the goal of many of the team and with that in mind a yearly-training program has been implemented to develop their skills in order to enable them to compete successfully on the world stage but especially against the other Asian Volleyball nations.

The training program, called the "2008 National Team Project", has been supported since 2003 by the Bangkok Entertainment Limited. The selection process required players of 185 cm or over to be sent for further training in Suphanburi province, where they received special tuition for six years.

Having honed their skills from juvenile through to junior level, the results are starting to be seen at the age group level. At the U19 Boy's Asian Championship Thailand players picked up three awards - Saimai Pladsrichuay was named the best scorer, Kamolporn Sukmark finished the tournament as the best setter and the best libero award went to Suvipriew Bamrung. Three players to keep an eye on and a team, which will obviously be well followed and supported.
