Bednorz heads standout pool play individual performances moving into VNL semis

 

Poland's Bartosz Bednorz (22) collected 24 points against Iran

Chicago, USA, July 13, 2019 – The six pool play matches for the FIVB Volleyball Nations League Finals Round produced some great individual performances that helped Poland, USA, Russia and Brazil advance to Saturday’s semifinal matches.

Poland’s Bartosz Bednorz totaled 24 points in his team’s four set win against Iran on July 11, the top individual scoring performance of the tournament. Iran’s Amir Ghafour collected 22 points in a four-set loss to Poland on July 11, and his teammate Milad Ebadipour had 22 points in Iran’s five-set loss to Brazil on July 12.

USA’s Maxwell Holt blocked France eight times in a four-set win over France on July 10, while Russia’s Ilyas Kurkaev had six blocks in his team’s three-set win over France.

Poland’s Norbert Huber was perfect hitting on eight attempts in his team’s four-set win over Iran on July 11. Ivan Iakovlev of Russia was 6-for-six against Russia on July 11.

As a team, the USA had nine aces against France on July 10, while Poland served nine aces versus Iran on July 11. Both matches were four-set wins.

Russia blocked France 21 times in its three-set win on July 11 and the Americans had 16 blocks in a four-set win over the French on July 11.
