Huerta and Menendez continue run into Baden quarterfinals

Spain's Alejandro Huerta keeps a close watch on the ball

Baden, Austria, June 8, 2019 – Qualifiers Alejandro Huerta and Cesar Menendez continued their strong form at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Baden 1-Star when they reached the quarterfinals with a win over Petr Bakhnar and Yury Bogatov on Saturday.

The Spanish pair beat the Russian duo 2-0 (21-14, 21-10) in front of a full house of 1,800 at the Baden Stadium.

It is the second year that the Austrian town has hosted a World Tour event and it runs from June 6 to June 10 with the winning teams claiming $7,500 in prize money.

“We are climbing step by step and managed to achieve all of our goals so far,” Menendez said. “This tournament is great, with the water park and the crowd, and I can say that the environment is amazing.”

Huerta and Menendez will now face Austrian duo Martin Ermacora and Moritz Pristauz for a spot in the semifinals. The local favourites didn’t need to worry about the round of 12 as they topped their pool with two wins from two to go straight through to the quarters.
