Italy confirm beach volleyball athletes and coaching staff for 2018


Italian top seeds Paolo Nicolai and Daniele Lupo will continue their quest for gold in the 2018 season

Lausanne, Switzerland, January 11, 2018 – With the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour again in full swing, after the Dela Beach Open in the Hague, Netherlands last week, Italy have confirmed beach volleyball players and coaching staff rosters for 2018.

In the women’s field, Marta Menegatti and Laura Giombini will continue their Rio 2016 Olympic Games partnership under the guidance of Terenzio Feroleto. Technical director Andrea Raffaelli and coaches Nicolangelo Antonicelli and Davide Chiappini will guide six other athletes – Arianna Barboni, Claudia Puccinelli, Alice Gradini, Gaia Traballi, Agata Zuccarelli and Silvia Costantini.

Rio 2016 silver medallists Paolo Nicolai and Daniele Lupo will continue to work under Matteo Varnier, Ettore Marcovecchio and Caterina de Marinis, while Alex Ranghieri and Marco Carminati join forces in 2018 with mentors Enrico Rossi, Marco Pallottelli and Sean Fallowfield.

The young athletes of Club Italia complete the rosters for this season with Paolo Cappio, Alberto Di Silvestre, Tobia Marchetto, Jakob Windisch Marika Costabile, Erika Ditta, Reka Orsi Toth, Anna Piccoli, Claudia Scampoli, Chiara They and Dalila Varassi working with coaches Ettore Marcovecchio, Caterina de Marinis and assisted by coach Daniele Benotto.

Coaches Alberto Di Mario, Leondino Giombini, Gioele Rosellini and physiotherapists Gabriele Cavalieri, Manuela Vellecco, Mario Raso and Fabio Martelli will also be part of the team.
