Reflecting on a productive day, President Graça said: “Today’s meetings confirmed to me that USAV can help us achieve our strategic plan which has been designed to help the FIVB realise its vison of becoming the world’s number one family sport. Only hard work, open dialogue and unity with our National Federations will help us progress and take volleyball to the next level. These meetings never fail to excite me. I am full of energy and passion for our sport and it is always a great honour for me to meet with different National Federations."

“USA Volleyball is pleased to welcome FIVB President Ary Graça to our annual board meeting,” Ms Okimura said. “We have engaged in important discussions with the FIVB and NORCECA here in Minneapolis, and shared very open and honest communication about the new vision for our national governing body. USA Volleyball's Report on President Graça's visit

President Graça recognises that the U.S. has a great tradition in volleyball and beach volleyball and has identified USAV as a key player in the continued growth of the sport. The women’s volleyball team are looking to defend their World Championship title in Japan next year after winning the championship in Italy in 2014, while the men’s and women’s volleyball teams and a women's beach volleyball team won bronze at Rio 2016.

The FIVB and President Graça are continuously looking to grow volleyball on a global scale, but being the world’s biggest sports market, the U.S. is a key area of focus for the FIVB. The vision and mission of USAV to engage and inspire through a cultivated passion for the game and to lead, serve and grow all areas of the sport of volleyball, is also closely connected to the FIVB’s strategic aims.

The technological innovation being embraced in U.S. sport will help the FIVB continue to set the standard for fan engagement at its events and create a connection to fans and families that goes far beyond each competition, so that ultimately, the FIVB can become the number one family sport in the world.

Also on Wednesday night, President Graça and Mr. Marte attended USA Volleyball’s 72nd annual Dorothy C. Boyce Recognitions and Awards Banquet as nine individuals were recognized for their accomplishments in the sport.
