"Brazil were crowned FIVB Women’s World Grand Prix Group 1 Champions after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Italy. Meanwhile, in Vienna, the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships 2017 ended with success for German pairing Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst, who added a World Championships title to the Rio 2016 Olympic gold medals they secured last year. Evandro Goncalves and André Loyola of Brazil won the men’s event in their first World Championships as a duo.

"Both competitions were excellent adverts for the FIVB and the sport of volleyball as a whole, as we saw packed out crowds enjoying world class events.
"In Austria, #FIVBWorldChamps was trending on social media throughout the final days of competition and the atmosphere was electric as spectators engaged with the volleyball party, created by the centre court DJ and energetic dance moves!
"It is yet more evidence that the FIVB’s shift to fan engagement is helping to grow our global audience, and it was wonderful to see fans of all ages participating in the family-friendly fun.

"We had the honour of welcoming IOC President Thomas Bach to Vienna for the Championships, and he too was impressed by our innovative presentation style and on-screen augmented reality, which displayed live player stats throughout each match.
"In Nanjing, China, fans were treated to an exhilarating final, which provided another showcase for our sport. The Chinese Volleyball Federation has hosted a number of events this year and I thank them for the commitment they have shown to developing volleyball throughout the country.

"I am convinced that as the FIVB continues to look for new events in different countries, there will be more opportunities for sponsors to join the volleyball family. The FIVB relies on support from every national federations and I would encourage you all to look at the possibilities of hosting future events."
