Russians rule Anapa women’s qualification round

 

Russia’s Anastasiia Frolova and Aleksandra Genenko won their qualification round match at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Anapa Open in three sets

Anapa, Russia, July 5, 2018 – Russia’s Anastasiia Frolova and Aleksandra Genenko, who finished ninth at the Euro Beach Volley U20 Championship last week, secured their spot in the main draw after edging their compatriots Elizaveta Novikova and Ksenia Sukhoverkova 2-1 (14-21, 21-16, 15-8) in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Anapa Open on Thursday at the VolleyGrad Beach Sports Centre.



Three more Russian teams – Anastasia Barsuk/Ekaterina Syrtseva, Elizaveta Zayonchkovskaya/Daria Rudykh and Irina Frolova/Elena Sviridova – qualified for the main draw.

Barsuk/Syrtseva defeated Kazakhstan’s Alyona Chugainova/Dana Shingissova 2-0 (21-11, 21-13), while Zayonchkovskaya/Rudykh beat Japan’s Mai Tanaka/Keiko Urata 2-0 (21-18, 28-26).

Sviridova, E./Frolova showed the most dominating performance in the women’s qualification, as they limited their Kazakh opponents Dana Rubilko/Kristina Zhuk to less than 10 markers in each set to record a 2-0 (21-9, 21-8) victory.
