AVC Sports Management Seminar under way in Bangkok


The seminar will run until December 18 in Bangkok

 Bangkok, Thailand, December 16, 2016 – The AVC Sports Management Seminar is being held from December 16 to 18 at Dusit Princess Srinakarin Hotel in Bangkok, offering an overview of the key tasks required by national federations to successfully plan, communicate and operate when organising competitions.

FIVB and AVC Honorary Life President Wei Jizhong and TVA Honorary President Pongpayom Wasaputi jointly presided over the opening ceremony of the three-day seminar which will explore topics that include the AVC Continental Development Plan 2015-2016, Managing a National Federation and the FIVB Volleyball Your Way Development Programme.

Wei Jizhong and Ramon Suzara, Chairman of the AVC’s Development & Marketing Committee and Member of FIVB Development Commission, were the seminar instructors, while AVC Secretary-General Shanrit Wongprasert was an invited speaker on the Organisation of AVC Competitions (indoor and beach volleyball) and procedure for AVC organisers and preparation before each championship.

Also attending as guests of honour were TVA Secretary-General Jaksuwan Tocharoen and Songsak Charoenpong, the AVC Referees Committee Chairman and a member of the FIVB Rules of the Game & Refereeing Commission.

Representatives from 16 national federations took part in the seminar, including New Zealand, Nepal, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Singapore, Maldives, Malaysia and the Philippines. 

“I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to Mr. Wei, who is so kind to share his experience with all attendants not only from the FIVB and AVC, but also the world of sports,” said Pongpayom in his welcome address. “This seminar is very important as it offers you the best opportunity to learn how to run your NFs successfully and catch up with updates from the FIVB and AVC.”

Wei Jizhong informed the attendants about changes of the FIVB structure and urged them to stay up to date with information from the FIVB and AVC. He emphasized the importance of understanding the function of national federations. 

“It’s necessary that you understand your NF structure, rules and regulations, working procedure and collaboration with AVC and FIVB,” he stated. “You have to learn how to communicate with the AVC and FIVB by means of online application and try to catch up with all updates from both bodies.”

Group workshops, presentations and discussions were also due to take place at the seminar.
