Tijuana, Mexico, December 17, 2016 – The Children's Volleyball Fest was officially announced on Friday at the FIVB-Norceca Regional Development Centre.
The announcement was made in front of TV, print and agency journalists, as well as young volleyball players of the Baja California State Sports Talent Programme and National Age Group team members.
Among them was Christian Aranda, captain of Mexico’s Men’s U23 team, National Junior Beach Volleyball Coach Eduardo Murguia, who directed the Mexican pair of Miguel Sarabia and Raymond Stephens who finished fifth at the U21 Men’s World Championship in Cyprus.
Among the FIVB Instructors in attendance were Puerto Rican Juan Cartagena and Cuban Argelio Hernandez.
“This is the essence of development,” said instructor Hernandez, who is also directing the last phase of the Mini Volleyball Regional Seminar in Tijuana. We have to think about it not now, but in 10 or 15 years from now. This is the reason why we are here and work hard.
“We have been working with some coaches in this course and it is pretty motivating to host this kind of activity because they fill us up with a lot of hope and passion to work in all positive, scientific and methodological aspects.”
On behalf of FIVB First Executive Vice President and NORCECA Confederation President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, Confederation First Executive Vice President and Baja California Sports and Physical Culture Institute Director Saul Castro Verdugo remarked on how important the area of development is, as well as the organisation strategies of such activities.
