The FIVB World Congress is the Federation's supreme governing body and is held every two years. The 2014 will be the 34th edition of the Congress. This year’s edition, which will not be an electoral congress, will be held on the Italian island of Sardinia. The country is no stranger to volleyball having recently hosted the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship as well as the 2014 FIVB Volleyball World League finals in Florence. They have also made their mark on beach volleyball after hosting the 2011 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships.
