The team will make its debut appearance at next year’s World Championship
The Colombian Volleyball Federation is the latest federation to have benefited from FIVB Coaching Support with its women’s national team moving up the FIVB World Rankings and delivering excellent performances on the court.
The team received 12 months of coaching support in 2020 and 2021 and have since seen their world ranking move up from 29th in January 2019 to 16th as of 21 September 2021. They also finished second in the 2021 CSV Women’s Volleyball Championship, securing the team’s first-ever qualification spot in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championships 2022.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Antonio Rizola Neto from Brazil, the project has focused on helping expand the base of professional coaches. Prior to 2020, the team received 100 volleyballs courtesy of the FIVB Projects Platform in 2018 and a new Gerflor floor in 2017.
FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said:
“At the FIVB we have a responsibility to ensure the continuous growth of our sport around the world.
