Egypt 1 defeated Rwanda 2 in a straight-set (21-14, 21-17) match and hoped that they could go all the way to claim gold with another victory in the second match, but Rwanda 1’s Denyse Mutatsimpundu and Charlotte Nzatsinega forced a golden match after they conquered Egypt 2 2-0 (21-9, 21-18).

Egypt and Rwanda started the golden match with intensity – neither yielding from the powerful exchanges of spikes. However, Egyptians Doaa Elghobashy and Lamies Nossier still prevailed in the tight first set scuffle at 21-19.

Elghobashy/Nossier were once again challenged by Rwanda in the second frame. The Egyptian side kept their composure at deadlock and scored the last two points to claim the 21-19 match victory.

Meanwhile, Nigeria defeated Mauritius 2-0 in the bronze medal match. The hosts redeemed their pride with an easy 2-0 (21-15, 21-15) win over Mauritius in the first match, then Agera Priscilla and Eyetsonetan Isabella Laju rendered the finishing touches over Mauritius’ Angelique Ramdoss and Vanessa Chellumben 2-0 (21-10, 21-16).
