FIVB and CEV leadership meet Mayor of Ljubljana

The leaders discussed the development of volleyball in Slovenia ahead of the CEV Champions League Super Finals

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° and CEV President Aleksandar Boričić today met the Mayor of Ljubljana, Zoran Janković, ahead of the CEV Champions League Super Finals scheduled for 22 May in Slovenia's capital.

The meeting was also attended by FIVB General Director Fabio Azevedo, CEV Senior Vice-President Renato Arena and CEV Board member and President of the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia, Metod Ropret.

The FIVB and CEV leadership discussed with Mayor Janković the development of volleyball in the country and upcoming events, such as the CEV Champions League Super Finals and the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship 2022 which will be co-hosted by Poland and Slovenia.

Following the meeting, the FIVB President said:

“It was a pleasure to meet Mayor Janković and hear about the city's excitement for hosting international and European events. Later this year, Ljubljana will host several rounds of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship and it will be the first-ever team World Championship hosted in the country. The mayor’s passion for sport is exemplary and I look forward to bringing more events to the beautiful city of Ljubljana in the future.”

CEV President Aleksandar Boričić said:

"Volleyball enjoys a great deal of support in Slovenia and Ljubljana as our sport has a big fanbase in the country and around the world. For the CEV Champions League Super Finals on Sunday 22 May, 75% of tickets have been sold to foreign spectators which showcases the strength of volleyball in Europe.”
