FIVB Athletes’ Commission attends FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in Rome

The Commission also used the opportunity to connect with players participating in the World Championships and the sport’s leadership

Members of the FIVB Athletes’ Commission recently gathered at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships 2022 in Rome, Italy, to discuss the latest updates within the FIVB and Volleyball World and connect with players participating in the event.

The Commission used the opportunity to hold a number of informal meetings with participating players as part of its commitment to working with, and representing the voice, the athletes. During the event, the leaders of various working groups established by the Commission provided progress reports on their respective key areas, including: safeguarding, communications strategy, the players fund, proposals for beach volleyball coaching, beach volleyball players, the volleyball calendar and the next Athletes’ Commission elections in 2024.

On the second to last day of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships, FIVB General Director Fabio Azevedo and Volleyball World CEO Finn Taylor also met with the Commission members and provided an update on the vision and operations of the FIVB and Volleyball World.

The FIVB and Athletes’ Commission members were united in their commitment to open and honest communications regarding any challenges, in addition to a joint focus on opportunities and key areas for the future. The Commission also identified several proposals it will look to put forward and requested the FIVB’s assistance with providing relevant data it can analyse on matters related to the working groups.
