Lausanne, Switzerland, October 23, 2020 – The Lithuanian Volleyball Federation (LTF) recently concluded its coach the coaches programme, delivered via the FIVB Development Projects Platform 2019, which has helped develop the expertise and knowledge of young coaches in the country.
As part of the project, one of the most experienced and renowned beach volleyball coaches on the World Tour, Marco Solustri, joined the LTF to conduct a coaching clinic. With over 30-years of experience, Solustri equipped young Lithuanian coaches with the latest expertise in beach volleyball techniques and tactics. In addition, expert physical trainer Fabrizio Magi was also present to share invaluable experience on physical conditioning for athletes training and preparing for competition.

The FIVB Projects Platform, which aims to advance the level of national teams worldwide, has supported 158 National Federations (NFs) through a total of 276 projects since 2017. The platform is open annually by application only, and offers three types of support, such as coach support, volleyball equipment or elite level coach the coaches clinics, which the LTF applied for in 2019.
Lithuanian Volleyball Federation President Darius Cerka said:
“We are extremely grateful to the FIVB for providing the opportunity, through the FIVB Projects Platform, to invite specialist coaches to share their knowledge and help our young coaches improve their skills. Both Marco Solustri and Fabrizio Magi were able to share their high-level experience, covering everything from the technical and tactical aspects of beach volleyball to physical conditioning and new teaching methods.

“Our young coaches were very happy to have an opportunity to learn from the best, and everybody said that similar clinics should be organised for beach volleyball to evolve further. In the future, we will be looking to apply for longer duration projects.”
Coach Marco Solustri said:
“First of all, I would like to thank the Lithuanian Volleyball Federation for a warm reception. I had a great time, and the dedication of the participants was fantastic. Everyone was eager to learn and asked interesting questions. Lithuania is very passionate about beach volleyball, and it was clear that people wanted to better understand the sport to improve their game and try new things. This is very motivating for me as a coach.
