FIVB President meets with Asian Volleyball Family in the Philippines

Meeting was attended by the AVC President and several AVC National Federations

FIVB President Dr Ary S Graça F° recently held a meeting with several Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) National Federations and Zonal Associations in the Philippines during the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) pool currently being held in the country.

The meeting was also attended by AVC President Rita Subowo and AVC Secretary General Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai. Four AVC Zonal Volleyball Association Presidents were also present – Central, Oceania, Southeastern and Western – together with the leadership of the National Federations of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

During the meeting, the FIVB President said:

“Asia is a very important partner for the FIVB, and an excellent market for our sport as there is a huge appetite for volleyball and a passionate fanbase. During the VNL 2022 here in the Philippines, we have seen packed stadiums with fans coming to cheer for the Asian national volleyball teams.

“The FIVB is here to provide further development support for volleyball in Asia. Since 2017, we have approved 146 projects in Asia with a total investment of over 3 million CHF. This is in addition to supporting the Zonal Associations. Of course, we have been aligned on these projects with the AVC President, Rita Subowo, and these projects have already delivered great results.”

The FIVB Delegation talked further with the delegates about the FIVB’s vision and future plans as well as the opportunities for National Federations to receive support via Volleyball Empowerment or Olympic Solidarity. During the upcoming days, the FIVB President and delegation will host one-on-one meetings with the National Federations and a joint meeting with the Zonal Association Presidents.
