FIVB President visits Kandima Maldives to explore pro tour hosting potential

Leadership of island resort and FIVB President discuss beach volleyball opportunities

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° today visited Kandima Maldives to meet with the private island resort’s senior leadership and explore the possibility of hosting a Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour event on the island.

The visit took place a few days after the FIVB officially confirmed its full commitment to accelerating the development of the sport in the Maldives with two years of coaching support through Volleyball Empowerment.

In particular, the FIVB President met with Kandima Maldives General Manager Jean-Louis Ripoche, Director of Marketing Communication & Public Relations Neeraj Seth, in addition to other senior leadership members who expressed their interest in the opportunity to host an elite-level international sports event.

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said:

“The Kandima Maldives was the good illustration of why beach volleyball and the Maldives are made for each other and how they both share the sun, sand and sea philosophy.

“Hosting world-class international beach volleyball events would not only serve to boost sports tourism, it would be an opportunity for local people to witness the best of our sport first-hand and be inspired to get involved.”
