Zuzanna Gorecka’s impressive 26 points were not enough to carry Poland into the semifinals as her team lost to Japan 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-21, 25-19). Japan’s speed and defence limited Poland’s tough 10-6 margin in blocks, while both teams finished with 54 points in attacks. Japan scored on 35 opponent errors and handed out 20. Japan used a balanced offence between Ishikawa Mayu with 19 points alongside Hirayama Shion and Nishikawa Yuki with 12 points each.
