Mahomed Afzal Valá inaugurated as Mozambique Volleyball Federation President

New President will lead National Federation until 2024

Mahomed Afzal Valá was recently inaugurated as the new President of the Mozambique Volleyball Federation (FMV) following his election last month.

Mr Valá, the former technical director of the FMV, was sworn in as president in the presence of the Mozambique Olympic Committee President and a representative of the Mozambique Government.

In his inaugural speech, Mr Afzal Valá called for the Mozambique volleyball community to unite and promised to focus on the development of the sport at both provincial and national levels.

The FMV President said:

"We want volleyball to be played in all provincial capitals every weekend without exception. The Provincial Associations need special attention in order to regularly organise sporting events in the provinces and then feed more athletes to the national teams. We therefore have to invest in training for coaches and referees and aim to have sustainable volleyball in Mozambique with foundations for a promising future of the sport.”

He also noted the FMV’s goals for the years ahead, which include: hosting more international competitions, increasing training for local officials, coaches and referees, and qualifying for future Olympic Games.
