Men’s team of Hong Kong, China benefits from FIVB coaching support

The team achieved its best result in recent years with a 14th place finish at the Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship

The Volleyball Association of Hong Kong, China is the most recent federation to benefit from FIVB coaching support with its men’s team showcasing its improved technical level at the 2021 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship and finishing in 14th place.

Six-months of coaching support for the men’s volleyball team of Hong Kong, China has already been approved for 2021 and 2022 via the FIVB’s development support programme aimed at improving the level of volleyball and beach volleyball teams worldwide.

Under the leadership of Dragan Mihailovic, a highly experienced head coach from Serbia, the team has already achieved their objective of bettering their 2019 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship ranking (16th) as the team finished 14th in the 2021 edition.

Additionally, Mihailovic is looking to continue his work with the men’s team to elevate their overall technical and tactical level with a particular focus on improving the team’s performance at next year’s edition of the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

“With the assistance of FIVB coaching support and the experience of Head Coach Dragan Mihailovic, I have no doubt that the Volleyball Association of Hong Kong, China  will continue to improve on the impressive results of its men’s team and further grow the sport in Hong Kong, China.”

The President of the Volleyball Association of Hong Kong, China, Mr NG Sau Kei, Wilfred, GBS, MH, JP, said:

“Dragan is an experienced international volleyball coach. He has provided expert advice in helping the men’s team of Hong Kong, China to improve its ranking in the 21st Asian Men's Volleyball Championship in Japan this September. He has also been working closely with the team’s coaches and players to strengthen their competence in many ways during the programme.  To enhance the professional level of our local coaches, Dragan will continue to enable and empower them by holding coaching workshops, seminars, video watching sessions and so forth.”

Head Coach Dragan Mihailovic said:

“In just 8 weeks, we have managed to achieve the men’s team’s best result in the past few decades, and this is just the beginning.
