National Olympic Committee of Kenya President and IOC member visits FIVB Headquarters

A renowned Kenyan former long-distance runner and two-time Olympic silver medallist visited the FIVB earlier this week

The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) President and IOC Member Paul Tergat visited the FIVB Headquarters earlier this week, where he briefly discussed the resounding success of the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment programme in Kenya.

To date, the FIVB has invested over 400,000 CHF in the development of the Kenya women’s national team through the Volleyball Empowerment programme, with a focus on the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship. The project was also supported by the NOC-K, Kenya Volleyball Federation, Kenya Ministry of Sports and the International Olympic Committee via an Olympic Solidarity Team Support Grant.

With the positive changes that the project has brought to the team’s performance as well as live of players, and the pride it has instilled in their fans, the FIVB will look into opportunities to further support the country’s men’s volleyball and beach volleyball teams in the future.
