National team player Kamil Semeniuk came fourth in voting for individual award

The Poland men’s national volleyball team has been named the country’s Team of the Year at the Polish Sports Personality of the Year awards in Warsaw after its silver medal at the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship 2022.

Backed by a packed home crowd in Katowice in September, Poland was beaten 3-1 by Italy in the final after beating Tunisia, the United States and Brazil in the knockout stages. The team also took bronze at the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2022 in Bologna.

On a momentous night for volleyball in the Polish capital at the Double Tree by Hilton hotel, national team member and Sir Safety Perugia star Kamil Semeniuk came fourth in the voting for Sportsperson of the Year.

The 26-year-old won the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) Champions League, Polish Cup and Polish Championship with ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, before moving to Italy’s Sir Safety Susa Perugia in June and winning the FIVB Club World Championship 2022 and Italian Super Cup with them.

On an individual level, Semeniuk was named the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship’s Best Outside Spiker, the CEV Male Volleyball Player of the Year and the CEV Champions League’s Most Valuable Player.
