Safeguarding policies top of FIVB agenda

Lausanne, Switzerland, November 13, 2020 ā€“ The FIVB has strengthened its commitment to safeguarding players from abuse and harassment following updates to its safeguarding policies which were approved by the FIVB Board of Administration on 3 November 2020.

Last year, the FIVB created a dedicated safeguarding page on its website, introduced a dedicated FIVB Policy against Harassment and Abuse and provided additional educational materials on safeguarding.

The FIVB Board of Administration has now expanded on these measures following its meeting in early November, further demonstrating its commitment to safeguarding. In particular, the Board approved a change to the FIVB Disciplinary Regulations which clearly outlines that violations of the FIVB Policy on Safeguarding will constitute a disciplinary offence subject to sanction. It also approved the hiring of experts on safeguarding to assist the FIVB in providing additional educational opportunities for its stakeholders and the global Volleyball Family.
