Semenov and Leshukov win gold in all-Russian final at Yangzhou
Konstantin Semenov and Ilya Leshukov celebrate their win against compatriots Viacheslav Krasilnikov and Oleg Stoyanovskiy in the FIVB World Tour Yangzhou 4-star final
Semenov and Leshukov rallied from a set down to win 2-1 (14-21, 21-19, 15-13) and secure the gold medal.
“It was a very important match for us because we just started playing in the World Tour this year and it was against my former partner (Krasilnikov),” Semenov said.
“We had a terrible performance in the first set. In the second and third sets, we traded a lot of points with our opponents so we had to change tactics. My partner had very good sideout today.”
Semenov and Leshukov’s victory in Yangzhou is their second, following their top podium finish at the Mersin 3-star in Turkey.

Brazil’s Gustavo Albrecht and Saymon Barbosa finished in third place as Sam Pedlow was forced to forfeit his and Sam Schachter’s bronze medal match.
Pedlow twisted his ankle on Saturday morning and decided to forfeit the bronze medal match as a precaution.
The Brazilians’ winning streak in Yangzhou ended when they lost to Krasilnikov and Stoyanovskiy in straight sets in the semifinals.
