Japan's Katsuhiro Shiratori towers for a spike
Ikeda and Shiratori dictated the tempo against the host nation’s Mike Abria and Jade Becaldo to win 2-0 (21-15, 21-14) in their opening match on Friday, then followed it up with a 2-1 (18-21, 21-18, 16-14) win to take pole position in Pool A.
Ikeda first teamed-up with Olympian Shiratori at the 3-star event in Sydney and they are now playing in their fifth World Tour event. Their best finish so far is in fifth place at the Goteborg 1-star event in Sweden last April.
