Snow volleyball is among the sports under consideration to feature at the Torino 2025 FISU Games
Snow volleyball will this weekend headline a two-day #TO25 Snow Volleyball Festival in Bardonecchia, Italy arranged by the Organising Committee of the Torino 2025 International University Sports Federation (FISU) World University Games Winter.
The festival is set to be staged in Bardonecchia, one of the venues for Torino 2025, from 18-19 March, and will feature a tournament contested by several stars of snow volleyball with the Finals scheduled for Sunday afternoon, followed by an awards ceremony and closing party.
In addition, a Queen & King of the Court tournament will be open to all to experience the winner-takes-all format with 15-minute elimination rounds. Snow Volley Italia is providing technical support for the #TO25 Snow Volleyball Festival.
A press conference was held ahead of the event
Snow volleyball is among the sports under consideration to feature at Torino 2025 following its tremendous growth over the last ten years. Having begun with localised events, namely in Wagrain, Austria in 2008, modern snow volleyball has now developed into a global sport through the efforts of the FIVB and European Volleyball Confederation.
The unique sport was also showcased as a demonstration sport at the Olympic Winter Games Pyeongchang 2018 during the Snow Volleyball Night, and at the Winter Youth Olympic Games Lausanne 2020.
Italy in particular has embraced snow volleyball, a sport that demonstrates the fun, passion and universality of the sport of volleyball, and ensures it is accessible all year round, from the summer to the winter, from the beach to the mountains, indoor and outdoor.
