FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour

The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour (FIVB WT) is a circuit of professional international beach volleyball events for the best men and women’s athletes who are registered with their respective National Volleyball Federations.

This property is held seasonally and falls across two years – the purpose of this document is to basically define the terms and conditions for the events in the 2020-2021 calendar and beyond. The FIVB WT is crowned by the FIVB World Tour Finals at the end of the season. All FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour events benefit from the FIVB’s endorsement and in this specific season will pave the “road to Tokyo 2020” by attributing points to the Olympic Qualification as the Tokyo Games have now been moved to July 23-August 8, 2021.
The World Tour 5-star structure has been implemented for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour since 2017 and beyond. All events on the tour are assigned a star rating between one and five, where 5-star and 4-star are the highest category elite events while 3-star events are the bridge between top level and development, and 2-star and 1-star events are there to develop the sport in as many locations as possible.

The 5-star structure makes the hierarchy of the events within the World Tour clearer to fans, sponsors, organisers and media.

At the same time, the FIVB recognises the impact that COVID-19 has had on the sports world and on our current and potential partners. Therefore, FIVB remains flexible in providing solutions considering the current restrictions impacting athletes, promoters, sponsors, hosting cities and governments. Our aim is to establish a calendar with a sufficient number of appealing events and adequate prize money for the athletes.

FIVB Beach Volleyball U21 / U 19 World Championships

The only Intercontinental Beach Volleyball world age group event in the world.  Athletes under 21 and under 19 are competing to determine the best teams in the world within these categories. A large number of talented age group athletes became over the last 2 decades professional stars who won medals at the Olympic Games, World Championships and World Tour events.
