Following the decision of the FIVB Board of Administration, the new World Ranking system will be implemented from 1 February 2020 and will take into account all results from 1 January 2019. However, for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games grouping, the current World Ranking will be applied, based on the rankings as of 31 January 2020.
Below is the system of point attribution for the selected FIVB World and Official Competitions: 

Senior World Rankings

Olympic Games & Qualification Tournaments

  • Included for 4 years.
  • Points are also granted for the qualification matches, to the best non-qualified teams.

World Cup

  • Included for 4 years.

World Championships (Senior) & Qualification Tournaments

  • Included for 4 years.
  • Points are also granted for the qualification matches, to the best non-qualified teams.

Continental & World Qualification Tournaments (Olympic Games, Senior World Championships)

  • Included for 4 years.
  • The points for the teams participating in the Continental or World Qualification Tournaments for World Championships or Olympic Games will be attributed at the same time as the points attributed to the teams taking part in the final round of these competitions. When a team qualifies for the Olympic Games or World Championships, no points will be attributed to the team for the Qualification Tournaments.

World Grand Prix (Women)

  • World Ranking points will be included from the 2017 season and will be attributed annually until 31 January 2020

World League (Men)

  • World Ranking points will be included from the 2017 season and will be attributed annually until 31 January 2020

Junior & Youth World Rankings

Age-Group World Championships (U- categories) & Qualification Tournaments

  • Included for 2 years.

Age-Group Continental Championships (U- categories) & Qualification Tournaments

  • Included for 2 years.
