Fair, safe and equal competition are all cornerstones of the Global Volleyball Movement. As such, the FIVB welcomes the IOC’s new Policy on the Protection of the Female (Women’s) Category in Olympic Sport, which provides clear, consistent and scientifically grounded criteria for eligibility.
The IOC Policy aligns closely with the FIVB’s existing approach to gender eligibility in international competitions, which strives to safeguard fair and meaningful competition for all athletes, alongside the principle of inclusivity in volleyball.
The FIVB recognises that the protection of the female category is essential to ensuring fairness, safety and equal opportunities for female athletes, while preserving the integrity of international competition.
