FIVB World Congress Charts New Course for Volleyball's Future

The 38th FIVB World Congress in Arnhem, Netherlands, became a celebration stage for the global volleyball community, under the guidance of President Dr. Ary S. Graça F°. Celebrating a decade of his leadership, Graça highlighted the sport’s transformation, emphasizing achievements such as the partnership with CVC Capital Partners and the creation of Volleyball World. This period has witnessed unprecedented growth, with significant investments in national federations through the Volleyball Empowerment program.

Graça urged to dream big and promised to continue supporting volleyball development. Governance and gender equity were also addressed, establishing term limits and ensuring female representation on the board.

The Congress applauded initiatives that have taken volleyball to new markets and audiences.

The event culminated with the awarding of the FIVB Grand Cross to Graça for his exceptional service. Unity was recognized as a pillar for the sport’s future, with Australia and Thailand selected as upcoming world championship hosts. This Congress sealed an era of progress, marking the path towards a promising future for global volleyball.

38th FIVB World Congress 2022 Host City

The 38th FIVB World Congress will be held from 22 – 25 September 2022 in Arnhem, Netherlands during the first round of the prestigious FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship.

The country is renowned for its hosting credentials having previously hosted a number of key volleyball events, including the Olympic Qualification Tournament and the Volleyball Nations League.

The Congress delegates will have a unique opportunity to watch the opening matches of the flagship FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship live with the 24 best volleyball teams in the world striving for ultimate glory and the title of the World Champion.
