PLAYER'S HEALTH
This section is specifically dedicated to volleyball, beach volleyball and Snow Volleyball players and contains information on the player’s health. As the FIVB is committed to protect the health of its players and to prevent them from injuries, several programmes have been established.
The landmark FIVB Volleyball Medicine Congress 2011 has focused primarily on how injuries and illness can be prevented, how the risk of long-term disability can be reduced by proper diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, and how to maintain Volleyball as a drug-free sport.

REFEREES' HEALTH
Next to healthy Athletes, the FIVB also wants healthy Referees. Therefore, health checks are conducted and FIVB-accredited referees with conditions that are incompatible with refereeing in FIVB competitions must develop a health management plan following consultation with their personal physician.

NUTRITION
Nutrition plays a crucial role in athletic performance, supporting training, recovery, and overall health. A well-balanced diet provides the essential nutrients needed for energy, muscle development, and metabolic regulation.
While the basics of healthy eating apply to everyone, athletes have unique nutritional needs based on their sport, training load, and recovery demands. Adjusting food intake to match energy expenditure ensures optimal performance while respecting individual preferences and dietary beliefs.
The FIVB is committed to promoting proper nutrition in sport and providing guidelines to support athletes, teams, and organizers in meeting these essential needs. Through these recommendations, we aim to help ensure that athletes have access to balanced, high-quality nutrition that enhances both performance and well-being.
