Tunisia have been crowned winners of Africa Men’s Under-20 Nations Championship, concluding the competition that was held in Tunis from 2-12 August.
Four countries took part in the Africa Men Under-20 Nations Championship namely Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and Burundi.
The preliminary round was played in a single league format with Egypt emerging top on nine points after winning all of their matches. Tunisia were second on 6 points followed by Morocco in third place with 3 points. Burundi finished bottom without a point after losing all their matches.
In the semi-finals, Egypt beat Burundi in straight sets (25-10, 25-20, 25-18), while Tunisia overcame Morocco 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-21) to reach the final.
In the third-place match, Morocco defeated Burundi 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-18) to claim the bronze medal.

In the evenly contested final, Tunisia, backed by home supporters, twice rallied from behind to edge ahead of Egypt 3-2 (25-27, 25-16, 22-25, 25-21, 15-13) and win the gold medal.
This was the opposite result for Tunisia who had lost 3-1 (25-21, 15-25, 16-25, 20-25) to Egypt in the preliminary round.
Tunisia, Egypt and Morocco will represent Africa at the FIVB Volleyball Men Under-21 World Championship next year.
Champions Tunisia contributed four players to the Dream Team led by Moalla Wajih who emerged Best Opposite and Most Valuable Player. His teammates Ben Slimane Fedi, Ghrab Omar and Ksouda Rasem were crowned Best Setter, Best Libero and Second Best Outside Hitter respectively.

Egypt’s Awad Hamza was named Best Outside Hitter while his compatriot Elrassas Youssef was the Second Best Middle Blocker. Morocco’s El Kouche Mohammed completed the Dream Team as Best Middle Blocker.
