Poland’s LKS Commercecon Lodz secured a spot in the pool stage of the women’s CEV Champions League Volley.
On Wednesday evening, in this week’s only Champions League match in either gender, coach Giuseppe Cuccarini’s squad claimed a 3-1 (25-22, 25-22, 17-25, 25-17) away victory over Slovenia’s Calcit Volley Kamnik. Polish international Katarzyna Zaroslinska-Krol was the best scorer of the match. The 33-year-old opposite put away two serving aces and three stuff blocks towards a total of 19 points.
In the first leg of this second-round series, LKS Commercecon won 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-17) against Calcit at home, which meant that winning two sets in Slovenia would have been enough for them to advance.
In the pool stage of the Champions League, LKS Commercecon will take on France’s ASPTT Mulhouse, Bulgaria’s Maritza Plovdiv and Turkey’s VakifBank Istanbul.
