The 11th edition of the annual Fullmoon Snow Volley tournament in Finland was held on the Tykkimaki Tykkimaen Sauna courts in Kouvola over the weekend. The team of Pettymys Vantaa won the competition for the seventh consecutive time and did so by winning all their matches again.
The four-team tournament was, otherwise, very competitive. At the end of the round-robin preliminary round, the teams placed second, third and fourth were tied on points, so the order that determined the medal match-ups had to be based on point ratios.
In the final showdown, Pettymys, with Juho Hasselgren, Miikka Putkonen, Olli Nurmes and Ville Heikkila on the squad, produced a convincing 2-0 (15-7, 15-11) victory over Team Ripattila Kouvola to triumph as tournament champions.
The third place went to last year’s runners-up Hidas Mutta Kankea Kouvola after a hard-fought 2-1 (16-14, 4-15, 15-10) win over Jaatyneet Hakkurit Kouvola, who settled for fourth.
The date of next year’s Fullmoon Snow Volley tournament was also announced. It will take place on February 20, 2027.
