Sri Lanka head coach Onur Ergenç conducted a week-long beach volleyball training camp at the Trincomalee Beach in preparation for the Asian Beach Games.
The Turkish coach Ergenç is in charge of both Sri Lanka’s national men’s and women’s beach volleyball teams as part of a Coach Support project worth USD 42,000 under the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment Programme.
During the seven days camp, Ergenç worked closely with the players to enhance their technical skills, tactical awareness, and overall performance on the sand ahead of the Asian Beach Games set for 22 to 30 April in Sanya, China.
The camp was graced by the presence of the Sri Lankan Volleyball Federation General Secretary Akhila De Alwis and Executive Committee Member Madushan Silva whose support and encouragement further motivated the players.

Ergenç was appointed as Head Coach of the Sri Lanka national beach volleyball teams in January this year bringing with him an exceptional wealth of international experience in elite coaching, athlete development, and mental performance training.
Before commencing his coaching career, Ergenç competed as a professional beach volleyball athlete from 2002 to 2007, following many years of involvement in indoor volleyball. His transition into coaching saw him work at the highest levels of international beach volleyball, including serving as Assistant Coach of the Turkish national beach volleyball team under Olympic champion Troy Tanner.

He later served as Head Coach of the Beşiktaş JK beach volleyball teams for 10 years, where he played a key role in building high-performance squads and nurturing elite athletes. His international coaching journey continued in Bulgaria, where he worked as both assistant coach and head coach for national-level teams.
Ergenç has coached athletes and teams from Türkiye, Austria, Canada, USA, New Zealand, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, and Iceland, and has been actively involved on the Beach Pro Tour, coaching at Future, Challenge, and Elite16 levels.
