The FIVB, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and beach volleyball player Devanne Sours have signed a case resolution agreement according to which Ms. Sours admitted that the prohibited substance Canrenone was found in her sample collected in-competition on 23 October 2025 during the 2025 Beach Pro Tour Elite16 in Cape Town, South Africa.
The prohibited substance was found in the Athlete’s system due to her use of a prescribed medication for a medical condition, for which she failed to file a timely Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) application.
Ms. Sours admitted that she committed an anti-doping rule violation under Article 2.1 and/or Article 2.2 of the FIVB Medical and Anti-Doping Regulations 2023. As a result, she has been sanctioned with a period of ineligibility of two (2) months commencing on 22 September 2026.
The FIVB is committed to protecting fair play and clean athletes and maintains a zero-tolerance approach to doping.
